Building the institution behind the investment.

R3i is the principal institution through which I invest, build institutional relationships and participate in the formation of frontier markets.

The thesis

The thesis begins with a simple observation: as software, models and information become increasingly abundant, durable value concentrates around what remains difficult to reproduce.

Science. Intellectual property. Evidence. Infrastructure. Regulation. Manufacturing. Distribution. Trust.

R3i invests where those scarce assets can become the foundations of consequential markets.

Structural advantage, not technological theatre.

Frontier investing requires a different mental model from conventional software investing.

We ask whether the underlying capability is technically meaningful, whether the company controls the assets on which its advantage depends, whether the evidence supports the claim, and whether a credible pathway exists from technical achievement to institutional adoption.

The question is not simply whether a company can grow. It is whether it can endure.

The investment lens

  • Market formation

The strongest opportunities often emerge before categories stabilise — where scientific progress intersects with regulatory change, infrastructure constraints, sovereign priorities or previously unsolved institutional needs.

  • Institutional readiness

Chain of title, data integrity, regulatory readiness, procurement discipline and organisational resilience are not administrative details. In frontier markets, they can determine whether a company remains investable.

  • Strategic capital

Different technologies require different evidence, timelines, syndicates and milestones. Misaligned capital can destroy an otherwise exceptional company.

  • Structural defensibility

When code and analytical capability become abundant, defensibility shifts toward proprietary science, protected intellectual property, validated evidence, regulated workflows, physical capability and privileged routes to market.

Inclusion is not a representation of performance, of the size of any position, or of a current holding. Spinouts are built through the R3i Future Intelligence Lab. Holdings are made through R3i and its authorised entities. Portfolio detail, terms and investor disclosures are provided by R3i.

Fewer decisions. Greater consequence.

Within R3i, I concentrate on the work where my direct involvement has the highest leverage: capital allocation, investment judgment, consequential transactions, major institutional relationships and the governance questions that shape the institution itself.

The goal is not to make R3i dependent on its founder. The goal is to build an institution capable of compounding beyond her.
