R3i Impact Foundation

Fund the work that proves it.

Frontier science often stalls at the step that turns a promising result into evidence — the clinical study, the watershed restoration, the retraining cohort. The Foundation lets partners fund that step directly, alongside a founder.

What partners fund

Three tracks.

Each track funds a defined, evidence-producing piece of work with a named founder or research team, a scope, and a result that can be reported back.

Health & life sciences

A founder's clinical study

Underwrite the study that moves a health or medtech venture from promising signal to clinical evidence.

  • Pilot, feasibility or validation studies
  • Digital biomarker and diagnostic validation
  • Ethics, protocol and data-governance costs
  • Access to patient populations often left out of trials

Climate & water

A watershed project

Fund restoration, monitoring and water-security work in a defined catchment, with measurement built in from the start.

  • Catchment restoration and resilience work
  • Water-quality monitoring and sensing
  • Supply-chain water stewardship pilots
  • Baseline data so outcomes can be verified

Work & livelihoods

A re-employment project

Back the retraining and placement of people displaced by automation — the other half of the technology story.

  • Reskilling cohorts for displaced workers
  • Placement and apprenticeship pathways
  • Programmes for women returning to technical work
  • Follow-up measurement of durable employment

Why it sits beside the fund

Some evidence should not wait for a term sheet.

Investment capital is patient about returns but impatient about proof. A study that would take a venture two years to justify commercially can be the difference between a treatment reaching people and a result sitting unpublished. The Foundation exists to fund that gap, separately from any investment decision.

The Foundation is governed separately from R3i's investment activity. Funding a project through the Foundation is not an investment, carries no financial return, and confers no interest in any company. Partners considering a commitment should seek their own tax and legal advice in their jurisdiction.

Fund a project.

Tell us which track interests you and the scale you have in mind, and we will come back with live projects that fit.
