Who is responsible

The controller for enquiry data is R3i Ventures SARL, Luxembourg. Enquiries are received and assessed there, and the enquiry data is held in the European Union. It is not used for investment activity: fund and transaction matters are handled separately by R3i and are governed by their own disclosures at r3i.vc. For any question about this notice or about information held about you, use the contact form.

What the enquiry form collects

The enquiry form on the contact page collects only what you type into it:

Submitting records the enquiry so it is not lost. If that fails, your own email client opens with the same enquiry pre-filled so it can still reach the office and you keep a copy. The enquiry is used only to respond to you. It is not sold, and it is not used for advertising.

The reader list

The reader list is separate from the enquiry form. If you join it we collect your email address, your name if you choose to give it, and a record that you ticked the consent box, with the date and time. We use it to send occasional essays, research notes and publication updates related to Algorithmic Roulette and for nothing else. It is not sold or shared for advertising. You can withdraw at any time by asking through the contact form; your details are then removed.

Where it goes

• Vercel — the site’s host. The form’s server function runs in Frankfurt, Germany (Vercel region fra1). The request is recorded in the hosting logs, and Vercel processes it on the site’s behalf.
• Neon — enquiries and reader-list entries are stored in a PostgreSQL database operated for R3i so that the office can review and route them. It is hosted in the European Union: Frankfurt, Germany (AWS eu-central-1). Records are not replicated outside it. There is no login or account of any kind.
• Resend — each submission is also emailed to the office inbox through Resend, a transactional email service that sends via Amazon Web Services. If Resend is unavailable the email may instead go through Google (Gmail). A daily summary of the previous day’s enquiries is sent the same way, so that none is missed. The office inbox is itself a Google Workspace mailbox. These providers may process the content outside the European Union under their own terms and privacy policies.

Lawful basis

Enquiries are handled because you asked us to respond and because the office has a legitimate interest in assessing and routing what it receives. Reader-list entries are handled on the basis of your consent, which you can withdraw at any time. Hosting logs and the abuse checks described below rest on the legitimate interest in keeping the site secure.

Abuse prevention

To stop automated submissions the forms include a hidden field, check how quickly a form was completed, and briefly count submissions per IP address in the server’s memory. IP addresses are not stored with an enquiry or a reader-list entry.

Analytics

This site uses Vercel Analytics to count page views. It is privacy-oriented: it does not set advertising cookies and does not build a profile that follows you between websites. There are no Google Analytics, advertising, or social-media tracking pixels on this site.

Cookies

This site sets no cookies of its own, and stores nothing in your browser’s local storage. That is why you are not asked to dismiss a cookie banner.

Third parties that see your IP address

Loading any web page reveals your IP address to whoever serves its files. On this site that is Vercel, the host, which serves every page, typeface and image. The typefaces are served from this site itself; no request is made to Google Fonts or any other font service.

Links to LinkedIn, Substack, YouTube, r3i.vc and other external sites are governed by those sites’ own privacy policies, not this one.

How long information is kept

Enquiries are kept for as long as needed to deal with the matter raised and to maintain a record of the correspondence, and are deleted on request. Reader-list entries are kept until you withdraw. Hosting logs are retained according to the host’s own retention schedule.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask for a copy of the information held about you, to have it corrected, or to have it deleted, and to withdraw consent. To make any such request, use the contact form. There is no charge, no account is needed, and requests are answered within one month.

Children

This site is aimed at a professional audience and is not directed at children.

Changes

If this notice changes, the revised version will be published on this page with a new date below.
